Here is hiow to make your own mexican raspados syrup.
- put some 2-3 cups of chopped strawberries in a saucepan. Add sugar and a cup of fresh water.
- Place it over a medium heat source to bring it to boil.
- Stir the mixture from time to time so that the sugar dissolves completely.
- Remove the mixture from the heat and chill it until all steam disappears. To speed it up, use a refrigerator.
- Poor in the cooked strawberries into a food processor like blender.
- Blend it until the puree looks smooth and uniform
Instructions : How to make strawberry raspadas
Step 1:
Pour some ice into an ice crusher or ice shaving machine. Without one, just drop a few cubes of the ice into a food processing machine like a blender, to finely crush it.
Step 2:
Fill a 10 -14 ounce glass cup to midway, with the shaved ice cubes, and pour in 1/3 to ½ cup of the strawberry syrup into the ice.
Step 3:
Add again more crushed ice and more fruit syrup to top the glass cup. If you like the sour taste, lemon add lime or lemon juice. Where necessary, top with a ¼ cup or 1 teaspoon of condensed milk.
Step 4: serving
Serve your raspa immediately after you finish making it. This is to stop it from developing a melted mess! Serve it with a spoon, napkin, chair, and there you go. For later use, Chill or freeze the raspado for several hours up to a day before serving.
Variations of raspadas
There are many variations of this summer treat, depending on the kind of fruit you use. If you love sour flavors, the mangoyada raspado, is a mango raspadas with chamoy and lime. This mango-based raspadas tastes both sweet and savory.
Another one is the chamoyada whis is a kind of raspado with chamoy, lime and rielitos. This one is simply Mexican candies prepared from sugar and chili powder paste.
Another flavorful Mexican raspar is the saladito, which is a lime raspado that is been blended with salt and topped with dried salted plums. If you add ice cream, and serpentine, you have just made another type of spicy candy.
You can also make your Mexican-style snow cones using strawberries and milk shaved ice. It is the strawberry syrup that made me to have a very strong memory of raspadas.
